Curriculum | The curriculum of the School of Dental Medicine has been designed and modified over the years to reflect the changing needs of the dental profession and the public. The school’s primary goal is to develop dental practitioners who are able to utilize their knowledge of the basic principles of human biology and human behavior in conjunction with their technical skills in diagnosing, treating and preventing oral disease. The D.M.D. program, which extends over a four-year period, consists of a series of didactic, laboratory and clinical experiences, resulting in the logical development of concepts and skills. Upon completion of the curriculum, the graduate will be both intellectually and technically prepared to practice the profession of dentistry as it exists today, to adapt to future changes and to initiate and contribute to those changes, all of which will enhance the delivery of dental care.
