Curriculum | Rutgers School of Dental Medicine is a publicly supported institution. Its mission is to promote professional standards of excellence among its students, faculty and staff, while meeting the health needs of New Jersey citizens through the coordination of education, research and service. The goal of the dental curriculum is to prepare competent general practitioners, who are able to manage the oral health care of the public. The curriculum also provides a foundation for graduates who seek advanced training in the dental specialties, biomedical research and/or dental education. To accomplish our mission, graduates must understand the interrelationship of the biological, physical, clinical, and behavioral sciences to effectively practice three overlapping areas of professional responsibility: 1) comprehensive patient care; 2) participation in community dental-health programs; and 3) continuation of professional development. |
